Celebrate National Pro bono Week Sunley Conference Centre Wednesday 4 November 5pm to 7.30pm

Dear Law students

In celebrating National Pro bono Week 2015 we would like to raise awareness of the remarkable work undertaken not only by lawyers and Law students but also in the wider community to help people in acute need who would otherwise be unable to access legal advice.

The University of Northampton, Shoosmiths solicitors and Central and East Northamptonshire Citizens Advice Bureau have been working in collaboration since 2011 in the running the Pro bono Legal Advice Clinic.  The Clinic is supported by LawWorks, a charity committed to enabling access to justice through free legal advice.

Pro bono is shortened from the Latin term “pro bono publico”, meaning “for the public good.” It involves lawyers and Law students giving up their time on a voluntary basis for people who need legal assistance, but are not in a position to get the necessary support.

You are cordially invited to attend an early evening symposium, which will take place at Sunley Conference Centre, University of Northampton, on Wednesday 4 November from 5.00pm to 7.30pm where there will be a keynote speaker and panel discussion followed by an opportunity for a Q & A session with the panel.

Keynote speaker - Linda Lee – Past president of the Law Society of England and Wales and past president of the Northamptonshire Law Society.
The Panel

Nicola Ellen – Corporate Responsibility Consultant - Shoosmiths
Ahsan Khan – Solicitor and Pro bono clinic co-ordinator - Shoosmiths
