Middle Temple Access to the Bar Award Scheme

If you are in year 2 or 3 and interested in finding out more about a career as a barrister then you may be interested in the Middle Temple Access to the Bar Award Scheme.

This is a scheme which has been devised to encourage students from different backgrounds to gain experience relating to work as a barrister. Successful students are given the opportunity to undertake both a mini-pupillage and marshalling with a judge and receive £250 for each week to assist with the costs.

If you are interested in finding out more than click the link on the left hand side entitled “Access to the Bar Awards”. In this section you will find the details including eligibility criteria and an application form.

Students must be nominated by their university as opposed to making a direct application to Middle Temple. You therefore need to send a completed application form along with 2 academic references and a transcript of your results to date to Sophie Lomas by 5pm on Wednesday 25th November. Applications will then be considered by a panel of law tutors and the two applications which most closely meet the criteria will be nominated by the law department (something which can be mentioned on your CV!).

If you wish to discuss this further then please do get in touch with Sophie - sophie.lomas@northampton.ac.uk
