LCN weekly - 5 tips to starting a new term

1. Sign up to LCN Weekly
If you haven’t already, the first thing you should do is sign up to LCN Weekly, our free email newsletter. It’s full of the latest legal news stories, helpful advice, new job vacancies and upcoming training contract deadlines. Reading LCN Weekly is an excellent way to keep up to date with everything you need to know about embarking on a legal career.
2. Get your copy of The Training Contract & Pupillage Handbook (TCPH)
Our annual publication, TCPH, is out in October and is packed with guidance, details of over 1,000 employers and much more. TCPH has been considered essential reading for nearly two decades by would-be lawyers.  Pick up your copy from the Naseby Open Space or at the Careers in Law Fair on Tuesday 1st November.
3. Apply to our LawLIVE events
We are again running two student careers conferences, CityLawLIVE (9 December) and NationalLawLIVE (2 December), taking place in London and Manchester, respectively. They are great opportunities to get ahead of the pack and to see what lawyers and law firms really do, particularly if you are a second-year law or third-year non-law student. The deadline for applications for both events is Friday 28 October – apply now to be considered.
4. Read The Beginner’s Guide to a Career in Law 2017
BGTCL is a great place to start if you are unsure about what life as a lawyer means. It providess information about the differences between the three main types of legal professional, the courses and training you need to complete, a welcome reality check and ideas on some of the next steps to take. Pick up a copy at your careers service or from us at a law fair.
5. Attend the university law fair
This year the annual Careers in Law Fair is taking place on Tuesday 1st November in Rockingham Library Foyer and the Dialogue Cafe on Park Campus.  The event is taking place from 10am-2pm; come along to speak to a range of employers and training providers.
