Chair of the
Executive Committee (EC)
As a foundational role within the Association, the EC
Chair holds a high position of authority, only subordinate to the Governors and
General Manager. The EC Chair duties include, but are not limited to, the
following:

To manage the EC and monitor the progress of the
EC members
·
To achieve targets set where possible
·
To build and manage relationships with external
bodies
·
To manage sponsorship applications
·
To ensure a new committee is in place for the
next academic year by 15 March, and to ensure the old committee trains the new
committee for the remainder of their time with UKLSA (until July of each year),
where this applies; team members may reapply to stay with UKLSA for more than 1
year
·
To manage all the external communications that
target more than five people, including social media messages and messages to
law students
·
To manage the website content (each Chair will
have to regularly update their page content and send it to the ECC for
approval/editing). Major content changes to be approved by the governors)
·
To report fortnightly to the GM and in his
absence to the governor

Chair of Liaison
Committee and Fundraising /sponsorship
·
Requires a proactive, capable individual who
some professional flair when finding and pursuing opportunities for sponsorship
and funding. Other responsibilities include:
·
Developing and maintaining a strong relationships
with liaisons from University Law Societies and other external stakeholders
·
Raising funds/sponsorship for the UKLSA’s
activities
·
Commercial awareness necessary to engage
meaningfully with possible sponsors
·
Have an ability to communicate with influence
and effectively market the UKLSA
Chair of Mooting
and Advocacy
·
Must be organised, communicative individual who
can work to a structured timetable. Other responsibilities include:
·
Organising the annual UKLSA mooting competition
Liaising with judges, barristers, solicitors and other legal professionals
·
Arranging locations for mooting competitions
(eg. booking courts/ hiring out courtrooms)
·
Assisting in the preparation of moots
General Manager
The General Manager holds a high position of authority,
only subordinate to the Governors. The General Managers duties include, but are
not limited to, the following:
·
To oversee and guide the work of the Executive
Committee (EC)
·
Ensure work targets are achieved and that the EC
follows the aims and objectives of the Association
·
To promote the work of the UKLSA
·
To handle the second stage of the EC recruitment
·
To train the new GM for at least one month
·
To report fortnightly to the governors
Chair of Schools
Division
Must be organised individuals who can communicate
effectively. Other responsibilities include:
·
Arranging outreach event with local schools and
sixth forms
·
Organising events aimed at helping students gain
access to the legal profession
·
Aiding the education of young students about the
legal profession
