Opportunity with the British Council to be a Teaching Assistant in India




We are delighted to announce that applications for Generation UK-India teaching assistantships are now open!
If you are interested in teaching, this is the ideal way to develop your skills in a challenging, exciting and vibrant environment whilst getting involved in contemporary India.
You will gain invaluable international experience and ensure that you stand out in a crowded and competitive job market.
Applications close on 19 February 2016.


As a teaching assistant in an Indian private school you will get the opportunity to support teaching across the school, run extra-curricular activities and set up international partnerships.
Where will I go?
Placements will be across India from Jammu in the North to Tamil Nadu in the South including posts in the major cities of Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
When will I go?
Placements start in July or August 2016 and last for two or five months, depending on your needs and the needs of the school you will be working at.
Am I eligible?
To be eligible you must:
• hold a UK passport or have completed your secondary and higher education in the UK
• have completed at least one year of higher education
• be a native-level English speaker
• have experience of working with children and a clear interest in living and working in India.
• be a permanent resident of the UK
We will support you before, during and after with guidance, training and a welfare support team.
Your host school will provide accommodation and meals and you will receive a monthly contribution to living costs. For further eligibility criteria and full financing details, please visit our Teach in India page


In the summer of 2016, Indian universities will run 2 - 3 week courses including a variety of subjects ranging from international relations, social entrepreneurship and gender politics to yoga and cinema.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is partnering with the British Council to provide 100 paid internships for UK graduates to train and work in India in 2016.
